World Physiotherapy Day
Tuesday 8th of September 2009
Every year on September 8 the physiotherapy profession commemorates its important contribution to the health and wellbeing of millions of people around the planet by celebrating World Physiotherapy Day. This year’s theme, Movement for Health, emphasises physiotherapy’s role in keeping people mobile, well and independent.
Physiotherapists are expert healthcare practitioners trained in how the body moves and what prevents it from moving well. Professionals are competent in a diverse range of areas, all dedicated to helping ease the burdens of pain, illness, disability, disease, ageing and prolonged inactivity. Specialties can include: intensive care, oncology, sports injury, chronic diseases, cardiorespiratory conditions, neurological disorders, post-accident rehabilitation, gerontology, paediatrics, obesity and more.
In honour of its more than 12 000 members, the Australian Physiotherapy Association would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Australian physiotherapists for contributing to more than a century of essential healthcare provision Down Under and abroad.
Please feel free to use the following materials to distribute or display in order to promote physiotherapy in the lead up to the day:
