Federal Government’s 1.5 per cent tax cut for small business welcomed by the APA
12 May 2015
Representing more than 5000 small businesses, the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement of a 1.5 per cent tax cut on the existing company tax rate.
“Our physiotherapy members face the same pressures as every other small business owner; and we are delighted with the government’s announcement on a tax break for all small businesses,” said APA National President, Marcus Dripps.
The tax break will affect physiotherapists across the country including Melissa Locke, a Brisbane-based physiotherapist and APA member who welcomes the tax reduction.
“It now presents new opportunities, such as the ability to employ another staff member or increase hours of one of my current staff; potentially develop broader, innovative services for my clientele or even consider buying a commercial site next year. These are things I can now consider,” said Locke.
Added Dripps, “As a small business owner of a physiotherapy practice in Geelong, I welcome any measure that makes it easier for small businesses to get on with the job of simply doing business. The Government’s Jobs and Small Business package will assist our members by cutting out unnecessary red tape and regulation and remove obstacles that were there, and we are very supportive of this announcement.”
